SCOTT ATHMER’S BACKGROUND
Scott grew up hunting and fishing in rural Clinton County. After serving 3 years in the Army, he returned home and began his successful career in law enforcement while obtaining his graduate degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 2007 in Public Administration. During his career, he served as a patrolman, detective, sergeant, and spent over 10 years with the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis serving as both an investigator and supervisor. Looking beyond his law enforcement career Scott obtained his real estate license in 2018, hoping to combine his love for the outdoors and his need to assist people.
In 2001, Scott also started as a field producer with Outdoor TV. He has worked with many landowners over the years assisting them in setting up management plans for the property. His family purchased this first recreational farm in 2005. Scott has enjoyed spending time there with his dad improving the farm and has been blessed to watch both of his children take their first deer there!
Scott’s background in farming goes back to his childhood. Although his immediate family didn’t farm, he spent countless hours assisting his uncle at the family farm, worked on a dairy farm through high school, and learned to appreciate a hard day’s work. After he and his wife Heather were married, he worked on her family farm with his father-in-law until he retired.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Scott and Heather have two children, Abby Jo and Joshua. He is very active in his church and community. He enjoys spending time coaching his kids in their various sports as well as serving as a range safety officer for the Highland High School Trap Team.
